Dr Robin Jacob is a NACE International accredited corrosion specialist with over 36 years experience in corrosion. He is a recognized authority on cathodic protection engineering. After researching the pitting of stainless steels at Cambridge , he spent 13 years at IMI, acquiring wide experience in the corrosion and electrochemistry of a range of materials including aluminium alloys, copper alloys and titanium. The latter included research on the manufacture and use of noble metal coated titanium impressed current anodes. He joined Global Corrosion on its formation in 1981, and used his experience to provide advice on materials selection and all aspects of cathodic protection engineering to clients in the petroleum extraction and processing industry as well as for expert witness, defence projects and public utilities. Author of numerous technical articles he has lectured, by invitation, at several international conferences. He has recently set up his own consultancy, specialising in novel cathodic protection techniques.
