• Foster advances in the technological base to:

-Extend the life of high-time aircraft

-Predict residual strength of high-time airplanes

-Improve and verify advanced fracture mechanics and structural analysis methodology to predict fatigue crack growth

• Accurately determine:

- In-service inspection intervals

- Time-to-onset of widespread fatigue damage

• Improve methods for:

- Quantitative evaluation of inspection findings

- Design and certification of structural repairs
