Introduction
- Typical crack growth calculations have two general types – Handbook calculations – Analysis based methods
- Handbook calculations generally rely on the crack growing under mode 1 loading only – This cannot be used if the crack is going to be turning under the applied load.
- In this presentation an example will be shown to demonstrate crack growth under mixed mode loading
- During the presentation I will demonstrate the use of a new method for predicting the direction in which a crack will grow.
