This part represents an automotive frame component where carbon composite (CFRP) is joined with an aluminum alloy (AA2024). BEASY tools evaluate corrosion susceptibility of the part with different degrees of coating protection and in the bare metal condition.
In this case study, BEASY tools understand the corrosion issues surrounding a joint of composite materials with typically aluminum alloy frame components. The problem is that CFRP, even though it does not corrode itself, is a big cathode relative to aluminum so can create some serious corrosion issues in the aluminum alloy if not joined properly (or coated adequately).
